Canyon County Regional REALTORS® Foundation Relief Fund

Purpose

The Canyon County Regional REALTORS® Foundation Relief Fund exists to provide short-term financial assistance to REALTOR® members, affiliate members, association staff, and their immediate family members and associates who are experiencing temporary financial hardship due to an unforeseen emergency or catastrophic event. 

The purpose of the fund is to offer limited financial support during times of crisis and to demonstrate the REALTOR® community's commitment to caring for its members.

 

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a referral from a current member in good standing of Canyon County Regional REALTORS® or an employee of the Association.
  • Have experienced unexpected financial hardship within the previous twelve (12) months.
  • Demonstrate a genuine financial need resulting from the hardship.
  • Submit a completed application.
  • Individuals or families

Examples of eligible hardships include:

  • Serious illness or injury
  • Medical emergencies
  • Death of an immediate family member
  • Natural disasters (fire, flood, severe weather, etc.)
  • Domestic violence situations
  • Temporary housing displacement
  • Catastrophic loss of property
  • Other unforeseen emergencies approved by the Foundation Board

The Relief Fund will not provide assistance for:

  • Routine living expenses not associated with an emergency
  • Business losses or investment losses
  • Debt consolidation
  • Legal fees
  • Bankruptcy obligations
  • Elective medical procedures
  • Vacation or travel expenses
  • Taxes
  • Ongoing financial support
  • Non-profits are not eligible. If members would like to contribute to a non-profit, we’d encourage them to use the matching gifts program

 

Funding Limits

  • Funds are distributed at the sole discretion of the Foundation.
  • Assistance is provided as a grant and does not require repayment.
  • Applicants may receive assistance only once during any rolling 12-month period.
  • Approval of an application is not guaranteed and is subject to available funds.
  • The Foundation reserves the right to approve, deny, or award an amount less than the amount requested, based on demonstrated need, eligibility, and available funding.

 

Use of Funds

Approved funds may be used for:

  • Temporary housing expenses
  • Utility payments
  • Emergency transportation
  • Medical expenses
  • Food and essential household needs
  • Funeral expenses
  • Other emergency-related costs approved by the Foundation

Whenever possible, payments will be made directly to service providers, landlords, utility companies, medical providers, or vendors.

 

Review Process

  • Application submitted to the Foundation.
  • Application reviewed for completeness.
  • All requests will be reviewed confidentially.
  • Applicant notified of decision within ten (10) business days when possible.
  • Funds distributed upon approval.

 

Approval Authority

The Canyon County Regional REALTORS® Foundation Relief Fund shall be administered by the Foundation Board or a designated committee appointed by the Foundation Board.

To ensure fairness, accountability, and proper stewardship of Foundation resources, no single individual shall have sole authority to approve a relief grant.

All requests for assistance shall be approved by a majority vote of the Foundation Board.

In emergency situations requiring expedited assistance, the Foundation President and two additional officers may authorize approval.

 

Confidentiality

All applications and supporting documentation shall remain confidential and be reviewed only by individuals involved in the approval process.

All decisions of the Foundation Board or Committee shall be documented and maintained in Foundation records, while preserving the confidentiality of applicant information.

 

Conflict of Interest

Any committee member or board member with a personal relationship or financial interest involving an applicant shall disclose the relationship and recuse themselves from discussion and voting regarding that application.

 

Fund Availability

The Foundation reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Relief Fund at any time based on available funding and organizational priorities.
